Camp Zama (Japan) Teen

  Zama Teen News

This program offers youth the knowledge of video production. They learn about the many roles filming has to offer such as camera operating, anchoring, archiving, teleprompting, staging, writing, editing, and many more. This program also helps build teamwork and build stronger bonds with friendships. The youth are recognized by having their work displayed on the community’s MWR Channel.

StRUT - Students Recycling Used Technology

This program helps youth learn about one of today’s mostly used technology; the computer. They get the opportunity to rip apart a computer, learn about the parts and their functions, and modify the computer with free software provided. The two great things about this program are the donated computers and the opportunity for volunteers. The computers are donated computers from the community the youth may work on. Experienced members are given the opportunity to volunteer their time to teach other youth about computers. After the program is over, the youth get to keep the donated computers.

  Community Service

Feeding the Hungry

4-H’ers volunteered to help a church group, who feed the homeless in Yokohama every Thursday, Friday, and Sunday nights. They packaged curry rice and handed them out to about 150 local homeless. Along with the curry rice, they donated beanies.

Earth Day Beautification Projects

The community service club volunteered to plant flowers around the Youth Center. They also participated in a bilateral clean up with the local Japanese teens at a very well-known hiking area with lots of beautiful waterfalls.
