Hawaii Agriculture Conference - September 4-5, 2008

The 2008 Hawaii Agriculture Conference "Growing with Intention" will be held next week at Hawaii Convention Center.   Sponsored by the Agricultural Leadership Foundation of Hawaii, the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation, the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources and the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture, this biennial conference is the ONLY statewide agriculture conference where all of Hawaii's agriculture industry can be together to meet, discuss current issues and build relationships.  The conference includes plenary sessions and trade show on Thursday, September 4, 2008 and three satellite conferences on Friday, September 5, 2008.   The conference begins with registration at 8:00 am with the morning sessions from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm; Lunch, from 12:30-2:00 pm, will be an "All-Hawaii Products" with a conversation about Eating Locally with Intention.   Breakout sessions will be feature a variety of topics.  More detailed information is available.  The keynote speaker is Paul Roberts, author of the recent book "The End of Food."  Paul Roberts lectures frequently on food, energy, and other resource issues, and has delivered keynote addresses to organizations ranging from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Council on Foreign Relations to Washington State University and the World Affairs Council. Roberts appears regularly on national and international television and radio news shows, including CNN’s Lou Dobbs, the BBC, PBS NewsHour, MSNBC, CBS Evening News, and on NPR’s Morning Edition, On Point, Weekend Edition, and Fresh Air.
