General Interests

Personal Mission Statement: I will live life as best as I can guided by integrity, trustworthiness, competence and a learning mind. Roles that take priority in achieving my mission include wife and best friend to Arnold, mother to Kevin, aunt to Blake, sister and friend to Gwen and Richard, friend and support to extended family, and professional colleague and friend to mutual seekers of excellence. Am an American history buff and a fan of baseball.

Professional Interests: Community food and nutrition education, food systems, food security, early childhood, older adults, and health and wellness education.

Extension Interests: Collaboration, training and technical assitance with United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Programs. Current development efforts are focused on fruits and vegetables nutrition education.

Ongoing Extension Projects

Umbrella Program: Nutrition Education for Wellness (NEW). Team members include Claire Nakatsuka, Julia Zee, Laura Kawamura, and Lynn Nakamura Tengan. Projects' professionals include Angela Miyamoto, Carissa Poon, and Kami Nishimura.

Projects include Engaged Instruction, Hawaii 5 A Day, Hawaii Child Care Nutition Program, UH-CES Food Stamps Nutrition Educationl Hawaii Foods for Wellness, Healthy Meetings for Wellness, Nutrition Integrity, and Produce A Plate.
