His current research focus is in aquacultural and fisheries economics.

His current teaching responsibility is in engineering economics, spreadsheet modeling, biosystems modeling, biosystems simulation and operations research for management.

He also serves as a cooperating graduate faculty in the Department of Economics and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management

He has served as consultant to UN Food and Agricultural Organization, Network for Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific, Asian Development Bank, Mekong River Commission, WorldFish Center, and UN Development Program.

He is the founding editor of Aquaculture Economics and Management and currently serves on the editorial board of Aquaculture.
