Garlic chives

Garlic chives (Allium tuberosum) Also called Chinese chives and believed to have originated from central Asia. Plants are 12 inches tall with flat, narrow leaves and can be used as border plants. Regular chives (Allium schoenoprasum) have rounded, hollow leaves similar to green onions and grown in the same conditions.

 

Soil Management
Prefers fertile, well drained sandy loam soils.

Planting
Plant in full sun, propagated from seed or division of plant clumps.

Irrigation
Moderate water, tolerates some dry conditions.

Insect & Disease Control
Few minor pests like aphids.

Harvesting
Clip the young leaves near to the base of the plant as needed.
