Nutrition plays a part in healthy Pacific island people.  Here are some resources that can help people be healthier.  ADAP has a number of publications on nutritious Pacific foods here.

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
The Agriculture and Consumer Protection Division aims to create sustainable improvements in nutrition, especially among nutritionally vulnerable households and population groups; provide information, assessments and analysis to combat hunger and reduce all forms of malnutrition; assist countries in identifying people who are food insecure and vulnerable to nutritional problems; promote food safety and quality, and prevent food-borne diseases; focus on consumer protection and fair practices in food trade..

Global Network on Food Security
This United Nations Association of Canada project looks to bring together efforts of many nations on the global issue of food security.

Secretariat of the Pacific Community's (SPC) Nutrition and Non-Communicable Diseases Prevention and Control
SPC is a leader in nutrition education in the Pacific.

bulletSupplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
The purpose of the Food Stamp Program is to end hunger and improve nutrition and health. It helps low-income households buy the food they need for a nutritionally adequate diet.

A US Department of Health and Human Services program. "Healthy People is the prevention agenda for the Nation. It is a statement of national opportunities—a strategic management tool that identifies the most significant preventable threats to health and focuses public and private sector efforts to address those threats."

Funds projects that help to stem the tide of hunger and provide for more food-secure people.
bulletWomen, Infants, and Children (WIC)
To safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, & children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to health care.

United Nations World Food Program
"WFP is the frontline United Nations Agency whose mission is to provide: Food for LIFE to sustain victims of man-made and natural disasters; Food for GROWTH to improve the nutrition and quality of life of the most vulnerable people at critical times in their lives; and Food for WORK to help build assets and promote the self-reliance of poor people and communities, particularly through labour-intensive works programmes."

World Health Organization (WHO)
The United Nation's health organization works on nutrition and non-communicable disease related issues.
