CTAHR’s 24th Annual Awards Banquet

The College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, cordially invite you, our alumni and friends, to the 2012 CTAHR Awards Banquet. Please join us for an evening of fun and fellowship as we celebrate innovation, collaboration, and compassion.

Academic excellence, a diverse economy, a healthy environment, and thriving families and communities: these goals are central to the mission of the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR).

At CTAHR’s Annual Awards Banquet we recognize exceptional students, faculty, and staff, honor an outstanding alumnus, and pay tribute to a friend whose commitment to the college has greatly furthered CTAHR’s goals.

Our 2012 Outstanding Alumnus is Dr. Paul Singleton (MS and PhD, Agronomy and Soil Sciences, 1982), agronomist in the college’s Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences (TPSS) department. Dr. Singleton is internationally recognized for his innovative work in biological nitrogen fixation technologies and is also a successful entrepreneur, as president of Pacific Produce Inc., the largest producer of premium lettuces in Hawai’i.

The 2012 Ka Lei Hano Heritage Award recipient is Ms. Marie Blanco, chief of staff to Senator Dan Inouye, who is an invaluable resource and tactician in addressing critical issues and needs of Hawai’i agriculture and communities. Ms. Blanco has been a strong and continuing advocate in helping CTAHR maximize its competitive edge in grants and programs that enhance the University of Hawai’i and support its community partners.
