Welcome to CTAHR eXchange!

photo of Dr. CY HuWe welcome you to CTAHR eXchange. As the subtitle suggests, CTAHR eXchange is designed to “communicate ideas, discuss issues, raise concerns and seek solutions.”

Ensuring good communication among our faculty and staff is always challenging. Traditional means of conveying information don’t always work effectively. We can no longer assume that these methods will always work. We were discussing finding other ways to communicate with our CTAHR stakeholders. In response to discussions we had with faculty and CTAHR Faculty Senate members, it became clear that we needed to do more. To provide another option, we have invested in software that will serve our community and that will permit us all to raise concerns, pose questions, seek and share information and to have good, frank conversations.

Our system is powered by Community Server, a platform that powers many of the web’s most popular communities. We hope that you’ll take time to participate in the exchange of ideas through CTAHR eXchange. The software is fairly simple to operate and initially will focus on “web logs” or blogs and forums. The forums will permit users to raise issues, respond to surveys and carry on issue-oriented conversations without filling up each other’s e-mail inbox.

We will also put up future issues of CTAHR Research News and provide opportunities for feedback about each issue. Suggestions, complaints, concerns and praise will always be accepted.

The participation will be limited to the CTAHR community and you must login and create a profile for yourself.

Thanks to Elsie Kawahara, Kathy Lu and Doug Vincent for setting this up. Doug will be serving as the moderator for most of the forums and has the responsibility to bring issues to the CTAHR administration. Technical issues will be handled by Elsie and Kathy.

The college is breaking new ground with the “rollout” of CTAHR eXchange. We need your participation for it to be successful. Won’t you join us in the conversation?

Sincerely,

C.Y. Hu
