Goals and Objectives

Skills and Knowledge to be Acquired
|
At the conclusion of the course, the student should: 1. Have an understanding of horticultural practices in the various production phases in horticulture, i.e. flowers, fruits, ornamentals, turf, and vegetables. 2 Know basic horticultural terms, develop skills in plant propagation and have an understanding of factors which affect plant growth. 3. Be able to evaluate demonstrations and experiments and report the results in an intelligible and concise manner.

|
One or two field trips will be scheduled in the semester.

Course Organization
|
The 15 weeks of classes will have the students will be exposed to and have hands on preparation of the following: mini-garden(preparation, seeding to harvest), hydroponics, soil mixes, vegetative propagation( cuttings, division, layering, grafting and budding) turf, pruning, orchid and anthurium culture.

Grading
|
Grades will be based on mist propagation report, garden and garden report, attendance and class participation and final exam.
