DEGREES OFFERED

We offer a B.S. degree with options in Plant Sciences and Genetics, Plant Production and Management (Horticulture), and Environmental Soil Sciences.  MS and PhD degrees are given in Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences.

All three undergraduate options share class requirements in the University General Education core, CTAHR core, and requirements in Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences. All three options emphasize a broad education in plant sciences, biotechnology, horticulture and soil sciences, and are developed to meet your individual needs.
Requirements
Students must complete the General Education Core requirements of the University. An updated list of the courses recommended that satisfy the University Core requirement is available from the undergraduate adviser.

The College has a core consisting of the following three courses that will satisfy parts of the University core requirement:
  • SP 151 or 251 - Personal and Public Speech or Principles of Effective Public Speaking
  • NREM 310 - Statistics in Agriculture and Human Resources
  • TPSS 492 - Internship/directed studies (3 credits)
Students must complete the following three courses in the Department:
  • TPSS 200 - Tropical Plant Science
  • TPSS 300 - Tropical Production Systems
  • TPSS 351 - Enterprise Management
