- Cultivar Development in Proteaceae Floral Crops
The objectives of this project include the development of new cultivars with improved horticultural characteristics, disease resistance, and an extended blooming season. In 1999 and 2000, 17 new Leucospermum cultivars (3734 cuttings) were introduced to the Hawaii industry via the Protea Growers Association of Hawaii. These new releases were part of a larger distribution of over 13,000 cuttings that included commercial cultivars of Protea and Leucadendron.
