Be a Gene-ius !girl with DNA

The Gene-ius Day Program was created to share our excitement about science. Each Gene-ius event is packed with hands-on experiments and activities that let students experience science.

Saturday Gene-ius Workshops

Saturday workshops are fun laboratory adventures offered on the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus and Kauai Community College. Please see the Saturday Gene-ius page for a description of upcoming workshops.

Gene-ius Day Field Trips

Gene-ius Day is an action packed field trip to introduce students to basic genetics, the function of DNA and applications of science to agriculture. Students study traits, look into plant cells, isolate DNA from a papaya and meet cool scientists. Fieldtrips versions are available to meet the needs and standards of students in grades 3-7. Please visit our Gene-ius field trip page for more details.

Classroom Presentations

Energetic and interactive classroom presentations are available for classes who attended a Gene-ius Day field trip at an earlier grade level. This one hour presentation reviews the information covered during the field trip and adds more content about the importance of science and agriculture.

Homeschoolers

Large homeschool groups are welcome to schedule a field trip or Saturday Gene-ius workshop any day of the week. Please contact us to make arrangements.
