Class Times and Dates

Sessions Available

For the 2015 to 2016 school year, students will be required to sign up for one of the available set of classes. Each set includes Labs 1 to 9 and the graduation event.

Chaperone Required?

Chaperones are required for students in grades 1 to 3. One chaperone may accommodate up to 2 students. Please note that a chaperone may be required at the discretion of the program director in all grade levels if a student requires extra assistance in the classroom.

Fees: (Includes 9 lab fees, classroom materials, and graduation event)

Grade 1 to 3 student with chaperone: $210.00 student + $210.00 chaperone = $420.00
Grade 1 to 3 student attending with another paid chaperone = $210.00
Grade 4 to 6 = $210.00

Capacity Per Class

Grade 1 to 3: 12 students / 12 chaperones
Grade 4 to 6: 24 students

Deadline

There is no application deadline. However, classes fill quickly, so students are encouraged to sign up early.

Payment

To reserve your seat in Saturday GENE-iuses, please fill out our online application form and submit payment online or by mailing us a check.

Payments not received within the 72-hour deadline will result in cancelation of your registration without prior notification.

Parking

University of Hawai‘i, Mānoa: Parking is available in the upper campus lots for a flat fee of $6 (with a 15-minute grace period) or residential parking (within a 10-15 minute walk) is available for no charge.

Dress Code

All students (does not include chaperones) will be required to purchase their own lab coat and bring their lab coat to class to participate in the lab.

Students and chaperones will also be required to wear covered shoes.

Drop Off/Pick Up Services

GRADES 4 to 6 ONLY: If you are interested in using our Drop Off/Pick Up Services, please indicate this on the Registration Form. The Drop Off Service will allow you to drop off and pick up your child within a certain period of time at a specific site thus eliminating the need for you to park your car and receive your 15-minute grace period parking refund. Please note that you will be required to pay the $6.00 parking fee to enter the campus on Saturdays. We apologize for this inconvenience, sadly we have no control over the parking policies on the campus.

Drop Off/Pick Up services will occur in front of the St. John Plant Science building, there will be signs to direct you to the right place. There will be two staff members present to bring your child to their designated area.
