- Agricultural and Environmental
Awareness
Day 2006
This
was the second year that we participated in the Agricultural and
Environmental Awareness Day which was held in Hilo and Kauai.
The event was hosted to island 5th graders and created the opportunity
for kids to learn about genetics, look at real DNA, touch tissue-culture
plants, hear the pros and cons of biotech, and gain an understanding
to the importance of agriculture and the environment.

Every
year Dr. Wieczorek and her students and staff take part in an
annual Farm Fair held in Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii. The farm
fair serves to educate the public about the uses of biotechnology,
its pros and cons, and the influence of biotechnology in agriculture.
