Should we, or should we not, label transgenic foods?

Some consumer groups argue that foods derived from genetically engineered crops should carry a special label. This is more than a food safety issue, because some objections to transgenic foods grow out of religious views or feelings of repugnance. Arguments for or against labeling often focus on either safety or choice issues. People who don't want to label transgenic foods are often approaching the issue from a different ethical framework than are those who do want to label. In the USA, these foods currently must be labeled only if they are nutritionally different from a conventional food. To find out more about different views, go to:
