10th International People Plant Symposium
The Terminology of Human Issues in Horticulture

October 4-6, 2009 Manhattan, KS USA

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are very pleased to present the 10th International People Plant Symposium to be held on the beautiful campus of Kansas State Univer-sity from October 4 – 6, 2009, with the support of the Department of Horticulture, Forestry, and Recreation Resources of Kansas State University, the People Plant Council, and the International Society for Horticultural Science.

The purpose of this symposium is to provide a forum for researchers, educators, and practitioners to discuss and develop an international perspective on human issues in horticul-ture terminology. The meeting will consist of thought-provoking presentations by invited speakers as well as a diverse selection of oral and poster presentations.

The symposium will have a relaxed atmosphere to encourage discussions on papers and presentations with authors and other participants. This communication will enhance the development of a mutual understanding of how we use and understand the related HIH terminology, the relationship between the various fields, and how they relate to traditional horticulture.

We invite researchers, educators, and practitioners from around the world to present their work on the research, program descriptions, theories, and models of human issues in horti-culture, people/plant interactions, and applications such as Horticultural therapy, Urban horticulture, Farming for health, City farming, Public horticulture, Community gardening, Children’s gardening, Therapeutic horticulture, Socio-horticulture, and Urban greening.

Look for the web address in the 2nd announcement—coming soon.
