Maui has diverse growing conditions, which can make gardening a real challenge. The Cooperative Extension Service, with the help of the Master Gardeners, can help both long-time residents and newly arrived residents in answering their gardening questions.

The Master Gardener program exists in all 50 states and 4 provinces in Canada. The program differs from state to state, sometimes from county to county within each state.
The Master Gardeners are trained by the Cooperative Extension Service to assist in outreach programs that are based on the needs of home gardeners. There are Master Gardener programs in each county in Hawaii.
