W.I.: BE 350L has been approved as writing intensive (WI) and you will receive a WI credit upon successful completion of the course requirements. According to the University of Manoa Schedule of Classes for the Fall 2006 Semester, writing-intensive course instructors should follow these guidelines:
Writing will be used to promote learning of the course materials. Students and professors will interact on the writing during the writing process. Writing will play a major role in determining the grade for the course. Students will be required to write a minimum of 4000 words or about 16 typewritten pages.Writing assignments in BE 350L will take the form of laboratory and/or field trip reports. Each assignment will be evaluated and returned. Initial returned reports may be revised, and re-submitted for reevaluation. One reevaluation is allowed per assignment. You will be expected to make the arrangements, if required, for critiques of your writing. Reports are due one week after the completion of the exercise. Report revisions should be submitted to the instructor no later than 5 days after the initial submission had been returned. Should you desire additional help in improving your writing, the English Department’s Writing Workshop offers free consultation during the semester... 956-7619.
