Atelocauda koae is an endemic demicyclic species in which all the spore stages (spermagonia, aeciospores, and teliospores) are all associated together on hypertrophied (blister-like) spots on koa phyllodes.  The disease is limited to young tissue and plants can “grow out” of this disease.
