My overall research efforts center on using ecological and biological control strategies to repress insects and other pests negatively impacting cropping systems in Hawaii. Currently, I am investigating the predatory potential of spiders and examining cultural control tactics to help manage insect mitigated plant impairments (e.g., viruses, phytoxemias). The climate in Hawaii allows year round reproduction of most pests inhabiting agricultural communities. This makes my goal of mounting comprehensive pest management systems that are environmentally sounded, healthy, and socio-economically viable an exigent and thrilling operation.
