Tackling Melon Fly Pests in a Simplified Manner

This workshops is designed to remind growers about the simple 1,2,3 techniques for melon fly suppression. Brochures, handouts, and posters with color photographs which describe the different control strategies will be used in combination with field day activities. New cooperators with the fruit fly program will receive GF-120 protein bait and lures, limited supplies available.

In the Livestock workshop you will learn how to raise chickens, pigs and cows sustainably without foul odors. The Natural Farming system uses IMO’s and produces animal feeds on site.

Mr. Cho, the founder of the Korean Natural Farming system has devoted his life to developing, perfecting, and sharing these techniques with farmers in 32 different countries.

Strategic Planning for HI sustainable agriculture for the next Twenty

Western SARE’s third subregional conference, in Kona, Hawaii, drew nearly 120 farmers, ranchers and ag support people to the Outrigger Kona Resort Hotel. Participants at the gathering, Sept. 23-24, 2008, learned about Western SARE and agricultural sustainability. And they discussed the key issues related to the future of agriculture in Hawaii and expressed what they perceived to be the critical needs and issues facing Hawaii.
