2009 Mealani's A Taste of the Hawaiian Range and Agricultural Festival


Taste at 6pm
  • 14th annual food grazing event showcasing natural forage raised beef, vegetables, fruit and other food products grown and produced on Hawaii Island.
  • More than 30 chefs from throughout the State of Hawaii participating, preparing cuts of beef from the tongue to the tail, plus pork, lamb, mutton and goat.

What's new:
  • Agriculture Festival Trade Show 1 to 3 p.m., Grand Ballroom. 
    A showcase of Hawaii Island food products for chefs, wholesale and retail buyers, and media from throughout the state.  Attendance free, but registration required.
  • Educational Seminar: It’s All About Taste – A Seminar on Locally-Raised Beef and Other Island Products.  12:00 Noon – Kohala Ballroom.
    Chef William K. Trask, of Hawaiian Culinary Consultants and President of the American Culinary Federation Kona Kohala Chefs Association will lead an informal side-by-side tasting of some of Hawaii’s finest products.  Learn simple effective ways to highlight the best qualities of local products from him and the chefs of the ACF-Kona Kohala Chefs Association. Attendance is free, but registration is required.
  • Cooking Grass-fed Beef”, 4 to 5 p.m., Kohala Ballroom
    Jacqueline Lau (Corporate Executive chef of Roy’s Restaurants) and Ronnie Nasuti (Executive Chef of Roy’s Restaurant Hawaii Kai) will team together to prepare forage-fed beef, providing tips for the home cook on the best ways to season, cook, and serve this healthy and delicious product. Attendance limited to 100; tickets are $10.

Event Beneficiaries:
Mealani's A Taste of the Hawaiian Range is not a fundraiser but rather a promotion of Big Island agriculture. Proceeds are used to fund each year's event as well as to support demonstration research projects, rancher outreach programs and consumer education.
