JANUARY - Tangerine

Tangerines are a cross between a mandarin and bitter orange. Local ones rarely develop a deep orange color but instead have a green tinge when mature. Choose those that are heavy for their size, which are free of bruises, dark spots, and soft areas. Tangerines can be eaten as is or in salads and are often used interchangeably with oranges.

Seasonality:
Tangerines in Hawaii are at their peak seasonality between the months of November Through January.

Nutrition:
Tangerines provides an excellent source of vitamin C.

Storage:
Tangerines are normaly picked ripe and can be kept in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.
