Striving for Optimal Crop Quality

Chili pepper variety trial

A key research area of our laboratory involves quantifying the impact of management decisions (e.g. variety selection, fertilizer choice and application rate) on crop yield and quality.  The potential for biotic and abiotic environmental factors to influence the crop color, flavor, aroma and human health potential is well reported.  A primary focus of our program is to measure the influence of production strategies on physical, chemical and sensory indicators of crop quality, in order to optimize yield, quality and grower profitability.
