Trained Master Gardener volunteers help extension agents meet the demand for research based horticultural and gardening information in the community.
Master Gardeners in East Hawaii receive about 40 hours of classroom training in botany, soil fertility, fertilizing and composting, pruning, fruit and vegetable production, organic gardening methods, and common pests and diseases.
The next training course will be conducted Spring 2019. There is a $200 fee for our training program. The program is academically based with hands on learning included. Master Gardeners are expected to volunteer at least 40 hours per year to the community. Please send inquiries to Eli Isele at elihu@hawaii.edu.
