Formula Funds
Funds are allocated to each Land Grant based on formulas developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Smith-Lever (supporting extension programs)	Penalty mail comes from this fund. These are the base programs: 4-H and Youth Development Agriculture Community Resources and Economic Development Family Development and Resource Management Leadership and Volunteer Development Natural Resources and Environment Management Nutrition, Diet and Health
Hatch (supporting research programs)
Macintire Stennis (supporting forestry programs)
Endowment (supporting instruction, extension and research programs)	Not all schools have an endowment and the amount that can be spent often times depends on regulations and the growth in the value of that account.
