1999 Conference Report
The
"Agtourism in Hawaii" conference in August 1999 was the first of its
kind in Hawaii, and introduced the farming and tourist industries, as well as
related businesses and government to the idea of working together to offer an
enriching and attractive experience to Hawaii's visitors.

AGENDA
Opening:

George
Kahumoku, farmer,
teacher and renowned slack-key guitarist and storyteller, performing ag-related
Hawaiian music and recounting the legend of Pua Naupaka (Dietrich
Varez's woodblock print reproduced on the workshop poster).
- Introductory comments & workshop overview by the conference chair: Dr.
Kent Fleming, University of Hawaii-Manoa: "The emerging market of Agtourism
in Hawaii: Will small farmers benefit?"

Valley Mustard Festival: "Creating a successful Agtourism festival
from scratch."
