top- What is a foodborne illness and how do I keep from getting it?

Simply stated, a food borne illness is an illness transmitted to humans by food.
There are two types of food borne illnesses:

  1. Food poisoning - caused by toxic chemicals produced by bacteria growing on the food or by a chemical pollutants present on the food

       

  2. Food infection - caused by bacteria that is eaten and causes infections by multiplying in our bodies
