      Physical Barriers

Physical barriers to exclude coqui frogs from an uninfested area are being designed and tested for effectiveness.  If feasible, these barriers can be implemented by plant nursery and property owners to prevent coqui frogs located on adjacent properties from entering their coqui-free property.

The most promising design incorporates a 90-degree angle that forces the coqui frog to climb upside down.

If the barrier consists of material too fine for the frog to gain a “toe-hold”, it will be unable to scale the barrier and, due to gravity, will fall to the ground.
