  Caffeine

The emergency exemption authorizing the use of caffeine to control frogs expired on September 27, 2002.  The State did not seek to renew this exemption because there were concerns regarding the cost and restrictions on the use of caffeine, and citric acid and hydrated lime have proven to be effective for coqui frog control.  As a result, no further testing of caffeine is being conducted.
