Changed Styles in Hanbok

Through out many centuries, Hanbok has been changing slightly.  In different period of times, Hanbok had the different length of the top, size of the sleeves, and fullness of the skirt.  But no extreme changes have been made.
 
 
 
 
 

Ancient period
The top was very long that it covered the butt line and it was made to tie on the lower bottom of the waist.  Both women and men wore loose pants.  It also had a little space on sleeves.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Three Colonies period (Kogueruh, Baekjae, and Shinla)
The top was very long top with the line designs.  Men wore pants with the belt and women wore the skirt that had plaits and folds.
 
 
 
 
 
Josun period
Many different forms of outer garments were popular among men.  As forwomen, very fancy tops were worn.  Especially, the top made with silk and the designs made with gold thread were very popular.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Civilized days
The men's jackets and vest were very popular.  The length of the women's skirt gotten a little shorter.  Also Hanbok with the same color of the top and the bottom was very popular, too.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Recent days
To make people feel more comfortable, the length of the top is not set and it is depends on the style the person wants.  Skirt has the same format as usual but it's not too long or too short.
