Applied Weed Control Technology in Tropical Turf Grass & Sparyer Calibration Exercise

  On May 01, 2017 Dr. Joe DeFrank made a presentation at the Department of Defense Pest Management Recertification class organized by Stephan Lee and held at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickman.  This class is part of the required continuing education credits required by federal employees handling pesticides.  Topics cover by Dr. DeFrank in this training class:

Following the lecture on turf grass weed control, a presentation on sprayer calibration was conducted.  Trainees learned about safety considerations prior to loading the spray with pesticides.  After this sprayer orientation, a hands-on sprayer calibration exercise was conducted following by a calibration math discussion using sprayer data collected by participants.  Video of the math discussion was not recorded but a filled in data sheet is provided to show how field sprayer calibration data is used to determine the amount of pesticide to add to the spray tank.

Suggested method to view streaming media and slideshow:

1.  Open two browser windows of this page, one will be used to view the "talking head" and the other will be used to view the slide show images as an Adobe pdf. 

2.  Click on the link to "view lecture", let the program download and start then hit pause.

3.  In the second window open the pdf version of the slide show and once the first slide appears return to lecture video and resume play.

3.  With two windows open, you can follow the lecture video for the queues to change the slide image.
