Air Layering: An Old Practice with a New System for Tropical Fruits and Native Plant Preservation. - 2018

  On October 10, 2018, Dr. Joe DeFrank made a presentation at the Landscape Industry Council of Hawaii 2018 conference. He discussed a new device for air layering tropical landscape ornamentals and native Hawaiian plants located in remote mountain locations.  This new air layer device allows for rooting branches of various sizes.  Air layering root suckers of elite native Hawaiian Koa and Ohia was discussed for use in developing seed nurseries in more easily accessible  locations.

Suggested method to view streaming media and slideshow:

1.  Open two browser windows of this page, one will be used to view the "talking head" and the other will be used to view the slide show images as an Adobe pdf. 

2.  Click on the link to "view lecture", let the program download and start then hit pause.

3.  In the second window open the pdf version of the slide show and once the first slide appears return to lecture video and resume play.
