Research to develop improved control of grassy weeds in Bermuda sport turf.

  On October 20, 2015, Dr. Joe DeFrank made a presentation to the 2016 Turf Pests and Management class and discussed the development of applied weed control technology in warm season Bermuda grass turf.   Topics covered in this lecture :

  1. Grassy Weed ID for turf.

  2. Time of year considerations for herbicide selection and spray intervals for grassy weed control.

  3. Wipers for applying turf pesticide.

  4. Herbicide research (in 2016) for grassy weed control in Tifway 328 greens (Barber's Point Golf Course).

  5. Research questions on "Normal grass", a mixed stand of thatch forming turf and weedy grass species that may provide acceptable sport turf activities.
