TPSS 364 Air layers - 2014.

  On October 24, 2014, Dr. DeFrank provided a brief history of air layering to students in TPSS 364.  A review of the patent literature dealing with air layer inventions is discussed.  Dr. DeFrank's improvements to current air layer arts is explained with specific examples.  The study species used to development his improved air layer art is the Honolulu Shade Tree, locally termed the Rainbow Shower tree but more accurately designated as cv. Wilhelmina Tenny (Cassis x nealiae).  Following the lecture on air layering, student of TPSS 364 try their hand at air layering shower trees, mango and breadfruit.  The lecture and student activity is provided in the video posted below.
