Weed control recommendations for home turf, landscapes and gardens - 2012

  On May 25, 2012, Dr. DeFrank made a presentation to participants of the Turfgrass Workshop sponsored by the Hawaii Landscape and Irrigation Contractors Association at the McCoy Pavilion in Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu.  His discussion included a description of selected websites to help with weed and pest ID, pest control recommendations and other landscape management information, see seminar handout below with hot links to these websites.  Also covered was a list of common turf weeds and recommended control approaches.  An extended discussion was presented on the biology of purple nut sedge and how understanding this weeds biology helps to maximize the effectiveness both chemical and non chemical approaches to control in nursery beds and home gardens.
