Definition

Flagging is the drooping of leaves on a stem or the death of individual branches with dead leaves still attached.

Discussion

Although flagging may indicate a problem with water relations (drought, for example), it may cause more damage to irrigate a flagging plant if the roots are rotting.

Factors associated with flagging:

1)  Root-knot nematodes

2)  Drought

3)  Flooding

4)  Vascular wilt diseases

5) Root rot
