Hyperplasia is abnormal increase in the number of cells, often resulting in the formation of galls or tumors.

Discussion

Hyperplasia may indicate a hormonal imbalance in a plant caused by parasitism or disease. Plant pathogens and parasitic insects can cause hyperplasia in plants.
