RESOURCES

Presentations

In these presentations you will learn about the different islands and their people: History. Geography. Demographics. Politics. Economy. Health Issues. Food.

Language Cards

Each of these 4 cards represent a language of the Pacific islands. The original cards were developed by PREL (Pacific Resources for Education and Learning). The nutrition and cooking terms were added by EFNEP staff from the Pacific region.

Useful greetings, nutrition and cooking terms are provided with English translations and phonetic pronunciations.

Recipes

These recipes all originally came from EFNEP Program staff in each of the islands and represent dishes eaten and promoted in the island EFNEP programs. The focus is on canned foods because these are often the foods more familiar to recent migrants.

Food

Play food games. Learn about island staple foods. Coconuts 101 - watch videos.

Cultural Resources

These cultural resources were originally developed by PREL* (Pacific Resources for Education and Learning). The EFNEP staff from the respective jurisdictions have added/updated/revised where they thought appropriate.

Physical Activity

Physical activity simply means movement of the body that uses energy. The following videos give some ideas of culturally apporpriate physical activities that could be incorporated into your classes.
