Choy Sum

Choy Sum (Brassica rapa var.) Choy sum is related to the flowering pak choy (Brassica rapa var. chinensis).group. It is grown like mustard cabbage but the tender flowering stalks are used. The plants add small yellow flowers to the landscape and will produce if cut regularly.

Soil Management
Prefers well drained, fertile soil.

Planting
Direct seeded or transplanted in sunny locations. Space plants about 12 inches apart.

Irrigation
Moderate irrigation is needed.

Insect & Disease Control
Whiteflies and white rust fungus are pest problems.

Harvesting
Cut the tender flowering stalks before the yellow flowers open.  Plants may be ratooned
