The Oahu Urban Garden Ohana is a volunteer group associated with the Pearl City Urban Garden Center. It was incorporated to provide the Urban Garden Center volunteers a means for fund raising.
The funds raised are used to purchase tools, books for our reference library, equipment needed for working in the gardens, and to fund various educational outreach programs, and other related projects.
The executive group holds their business meetings on the first Friday bi-monthly. All members are welcomed to attend and provide input.
Anyone interested in volunteering at the OUGC is welcome. However, DESIRE and COMMITMENT are prerequisites. There are various positions within the OUGC so an interview with one of the staff members is necessary to determine your role with the OUGC.
Presently, we need docents to help conduct tours for children's groups. We provide training and once you begin working as a volunteer, you are automatically welcomed as a member of the “Oahu Urban Garden Ohana.” There is no fee to join this family.
