Uncontrolled Flow

Here are three examples of piggeries with uncontrolled flow of manure from the pens:

The manure from this piggery is flushed out and away from the pen when it rains.

During a heavy rain the manure from these pens can flow into the open well (visible in the foreground), where it can go straight into groundwater. Note that several nearby residences use pumps to supply water to their houses. It is possible that some of the water drawn from the groundwater by those pumps has been contaminated by manure that flowed into the open well.

A recent rain has washed the manure from this piggery into the stream which is visible behind the piggery (there is a small white bridge over the stream). The stream flows past a hospital, which is located a few hundred yards downstream from this site.
