Recent Research Projects
April 2015 - Aug 2017: Entomology Research Support at University of Hawaiʻi-Mānoa – Kapaʻa, Hawaiʻi.
- Identified borer beetles with a microscope to ensure the absence of coffee berry borer.
- Compiled a list of borer beetles and other common insects occurring on coffee estates.
- Used Brocap traps to collect frugivorous insects from coffee plantations.
- Reared insects from coffee berries collected at Kauaʻi Coffee Company, Moloaʻa Bay Coffee, and the Kauai

Center (KARC) to establish baseline data on parasitoid wasps of tephritids (fruit
flies).
- Reared new tephritid parasitoid wasp and released >1,200 in Kauaʻi Coffee.
May 2014 - March 2015: Mite Taxonomy Technician at Royal Alberta Museum – Edmonton, Alberta.
- Identified oribatid mites to species level using a dichotomous key.
- Used Burlese funnels to extract oribatid mites from soil samples.
- Assisted with researching and designing correlative experiments on the ecology of oribatid mites in
native temperate grasslands.
