ADSC Komohana Diagnostic Laboratory
The laboratory continues to be temporarily closed due to building wide construction. Dependent on the timely completion of the construction project, the laboratory is anticipated to reopen and accept plant disease and insect pest samples from all islands on Monday, November 11, 2024.
During the closure of the laboratory, plant disease and insect identification services can be obtained through the supportive network of National Plant Diagnostic Network members, University of Florida (UF), Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) and Washington State Department of Agriculture's Plant Pathology and Molecular Diagnostics Lab (PPMDL).

Please contact the UF/IFAS laboratory before sending samples to obtain all necessary regulatory and permit documents for shipping samples between States.

Aloha and Happy New Year!
The Agricultural Diagnostic Service Center (ADSC) will continue to undergo significant changes in 2024. This email contains important information about our operational levels for each of our facilities and programs.
Before getting into the ADSC operations, I would like to recognize and congratulate Mr. Desmond Ogata, who retired from the ADSC after 38 plus years of service! His dedication and service to the State of Hawai'i's agricultural community is widely recognized by growers through Federal and State agencies. He single-handedly managed the University of Hawaii Seed Laboratory and the UH Manoa ADSC Plant Clinic without complaint and carried himself with the professionalism we all should strive to achieve. Thank you very much Desmond for all that you did for us professionally and personally. We are going to miss you!
University of Hawai'i Seed Laboratory
Basic daily operations will continue with Ms. Quynn Cytryn managing this operation as a casual hire along with student employees. Active recruitment to fill the temporary full-time position has been ongoing since July 2023. Seed availability continues to remain limited, and we are seeking creative ways to produce more seed supply.
