Dr. Charles W. Laughlin has been selected as the next dean of the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR). Dr. Laughlin was the director of the Colorado Agricultural Experiment Station, Colorado State University, Fort Collins. He assumes the duties of CTAHR dean on July 1, 1996. Dr. Laughlin holds a B.S. degree in horticulture from Iowa State University, an M.S. degree in agronomy from the University of Maryland, and Ph.D. degree in plant pathology and physiology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has had experience in nematology extension at the University of Florida and Michigan State University. His administrative experience includes assistant director at Michigan State University, department head at Mississippi State University, and associate director at the University of Georgia. In addition to his administrative leadership of research programs and experience as a Cooperative Extension specialist, Dr. Laughlin has experience in instruction and in coordinating the planning, development, and evaluation of academic programs. He is the author of invited presentations, contributions to books, and scientific and extension publications.
