EFNEP

Hawaii's Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) provides resource management, food safety, and food skills to limited resource populations. The program contributes to personal development of the family, diet and nutritional well-being.

This program is delivered through an experimental learning process to adults with young children as well as youth. This hands-on, learn-by-doing approach allows participants to gain the practical skills necessary to make positive behavior changes. Through EFNEP, participants learn self-worth that they have something to offer their families and society.

GOAL:

To assist limited resource audiences in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed behavior necessary to maintain nutritionally sound diets. Therefore, contributing to their personal development and the improvement of the total family diet and nutritional well-being.

OBJECTIVES:

To focus on selecting and buying food, food production, preparation, storage, safety and sanitation, and resource management.
