The T-STAR, Pacific Basin
program is administered under the direction of a
Technical Committee (known as PBAG, the Pacific Basin Administrative Group), made up of representatives of two participating universities, the University
of Hawaii and the University of Guam, the Executive Director of
the Western Association of Experimental Station Directors, the USDA/ARS Pacific West Area
Director, and USDA/CSREES. Currently, these members are:

Research proposals in USDA CSREES format are solicited from the faculties of the two universities, due November 1,
current year. Proposals are reviewed for merit by scientific peer review and are then submitted to the Technical Committee.
The Technical Committee meets each year to evaluate current projects, select new proposals to be submitted to CSREES for funding, and to discuss program goals and policies.
Research goals and objectives for the T-STAR program are set forth in a Strategic Plan developed jointly by T-STAR-Caribbean and T-STAR Pacific.
The objectives of individual research projects are targeted toward these goals and objectives, and in the T-STAR Pacific, projects relate directly to the interests of
Pacific tropical and subtropical agriculture, including impacts on continental US agriculture.

T-STAR Pacific solicits research proposals from the faculties of the University of Hawaii and University of Guam. Funding is on an annual basis, therefore, PBAG also decides on funding allocations for the second and third years following the initial year of research.
Research goals and objectives for the T-STAR program are set forth in a Strategic Plan developed jointly by T-STAR-Caribbean and T-STAR Pacific. The objectives of individual research projects are targeted toward the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.
If you are a regular faculty member at the participating Agricultural Experiment Stations of the Universities of Hawaii and Guam, you are eligible to pursue a T-STAR grant. Check with your program manager for the deadlines of the "Letter of Intent" and the Full Proposals. The Full Proposal Guidelines are posted here.
