ADAP is offering reusable signs to
interested Hawaii’s Farmers Markets vendors. The green corrugated plastic signs come
with a rewritable surface for noting the item’s price, and place of origin. Food
security is an important issue in Hawaii because of geographic isolation, our
reliance on fossil fuels, and our reliance on imported foods. The only way to reduce
our reliance on imported foods is to support our local farmers – by purchasing their
goods, and encouraging others to do so, too. ADAP’s farmers market signs promote
local farms, local produce, and have an additional space for a food safety
certification sticker. Our hopes are that these signs will replace the commonly seen
cardboard paper signs.
Purchases are handled through
PayPal for security and accounting purposes. Items are shipped to your home or
business. The signs are free, but there is a small
fee for packaging and shipping. To ensure that all growers and farmers market vendors
across the state have equal access to these items, they will only be available through
this website.
