Inoculation |
Following are photographs of how to inoculate seed for a small scale planting.
Sticker is measured. Usually gum arabic or methylcellulose are used but syrups, polyvinylpirrolidone, starch and other materials have been used.
Inoculant is either mixed with the sticker or can be applied after seed is coated with the sticker.
The inoculant-sticker mixture is poured onto seed.
Then the seed-inoculant slurry is mixed to coat seed and left to air dry.
Sometimes seed is coated with finely ground CaCO3 to dry seed and neutralize acidity near the seed.
