Background
The Areca palm is also know as
the Butterfly Palm. The Areca palm is found in
sub-tropical and tropical climates. Lives well under
average home conditions.
Care
The Areca palm should put
planted in a large container. Water frequently and
thoroughly but not saturated. Do not allow the plant
to sit in water. This palm likes medium to high
lighting, usually will do well in the east, west, or south
windows. Fertilize every 4 moths with a basic
fertilizer.
Miscellaneous
When purchasing a Areca Palm,
look for sturdy, shapely plants. The should no show
any signs of pest of disease. Look under the leaves
for any signs of pests. Avoid plants with yellow or
brown leaf margins,
Propagation
Areca palms can be propagated
by simple divisions.
